Matron Evelyn Gertrude Brooke 22/103 became the first and only New Zealand nurse to be awarded the Bar to the RRC. By being awarded the Bar to the RRC Evelyn Brooke was in fact awarded the RRC twice.

She was awarded the RRC 1st Class in 1917 and the Bar in June 1919.

The RRC was awarded to her for "In recognition if her nursing service in connection with the War."

The Bar was awarded to her "In recognition of her valuable service with the Armies in France and Flanders."
