Boer War Nurse Janet Wyse Mackie Williamson

Lord Roberts Mentioned her in Dispatches on 4.9.1901 and
in the same month, she was awarded the decoration of the Royal Red Cross (L.G.27.9.1901). The decoration was personally presented to her by King Edward the VII.

Thus she became the first New Zealand born and trained nurse to be honoured with this award.
