New Zealand Army Nursing Service - Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps

The first book dedicated to New Zealand military nursing was published in 1990. Entitled New Zealand Military Nursing - A History of the R.N.Z.N.C. Boer War to Present Day, it was written and published by Sherayl Kendall & David Corbett.

Since then, the book has been used continuously and extensively by researchers all over the world. The book not only gives the history of New Zealand military nursing but includes the rolls of those who served from Boer War to the 1970s. It has been immensly satisfying to learn how useful researchers have found our book.

Sadly, David Corbett, my co-author passed away on 9 June 1993 leaving behind a legacy of military research information, published articles and books including the above.

I continue my research of military nursing in New Zealand to this day, and offer my findings to all of you on this website. It is my hope that this website will acquaint you with the story of the history of military nursing in New Zealand. This site will include all the Rolls of nurses who have served since the Boer.

In addition to information previously published in New Zealand Military Nursing - A History of the R.N.Z.N.C. Boer War to Present Day, I have included data from other sources. I will update this site periodically and welcome any contributions you may have to either update the current information or to add to the next republication of the book.

Should you wih to contact me please view my Contacts page.
